Admissions

Weston Rhyn is a Community Primary School for children between the ages of 4 years and 11 years, with a nursery class for children aged 3 to 4 years.  Should you wish your child to attend our school, you should register them at school as soon as possible. This page will give you more information/links on how you can do this.

Our admissions authority is Shropshire Council.  As a 'maintained' Local Authority school, we follow the Shropshire agreed policy.  The admission arrangements 2024/25 for community and voluntary controlled schools in the Shropshire local authority area were determined by Shropshire Council Cabinet on 8 February 2021.  A copy of the arrangements have been published on their website at:

In-Year Admissions

From 1 September 2024. Shropshire Council will be coordinating and allocating all requests for places at our school.

We welcome prospective parents to visit our school.  If you wish to apply for a place at our school, please complete the online application form via this link – Synergy - Homepage (shropshire.gov.uk)

Your application will be processed by the School Admissions Team at Shropshire Council in accordance with our school’s oversubscription criteria. You will then be notified via letter of the outcome of your application.

Objections:

Following determination of arrangements, if it is believed that the admission arrangements are unlawful or do not comply with the mandatory requirements of the School Admissions Code, objections can be made to the Schools Adjudicator.  Any such objections should be submitted in writing by 15 May 2021 to: The Secretary, Office of the Schools Adjudicator, Mowden Hall, Staindrop Road, Darlington, DL3 9BG or by email to OSA.TEAM@osa.gsi.gov.uk

A standard application form and information will be available to parents in early September, whose children are due to commence school in the following academic year. All parents will be advised that it is in their own best interests to confirm in writing, using the LEA application form, what their preference for a school place is, regardless of whether they opt for their nearest school, or one further away. These forms should be returned via an online application or to the parents’ preferred school, which will pass them on to the Education Department to administer the allocations procedure.

The national School Admissions Code 2021 (which comes into effect on 1 September 2021) has been approved.
