Lunch at Weston Rhyn
We know how important good food is for your child. Great quality, freshly prepared food is a vital part of the school day.
Children who eat a balanced, healthy diet are more likely to be alert in class and have more energy to enjoy an active lifestyle.
Weston Rhyn Primary School Lunches are freshly cooked in school every day. We manage our own kitchen, so all of our meals are chosen based on children's preferences. We consult with the children and families every year to ensure the quality of our food options remain high and in line with children's preferences.
School meals cost £2.50 and are paid via ParentPay.
Our latest Lunch menu:

Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM)
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to receive a free school meal every day through the Government's Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme. These meals are nutritious, balanced and designed to support children's health, wellbeing and learning throughout the school day. We encourage all eligible families to take advantage of this entitlement, helping children to enjoy a healthy lunch alongside their friends.
Free School Meals (FSM)
Some families may be eligible for Free School Meals based on their household circumstances. If your child qualifies, this can provide additional financial support and may also help the school access extra funding through the Pupil Premium, which is used to support children's learning and wellbeing.
Parents and carers can apply directly through the Government's online eligibility checking service. The process is quick, confidential and only takes a few minutes to complete.
If you think you may be eligible, please visit:

If you require any assistance with your application, please contact the school office, who will be happy to help.
Packed Lunches
At Weston Rhyn Primary School, we encourage all packed lunches to support healthy eating habits and provide children with the energy they need to learn, play and thrive throughout the school day.
A healthy packed lunch should include a balance of foods, such as:
- A sandwich, wrap, pasta or other starchy food
- At least one portion of fruit and/or vegetables
- A source of protein, such as meat, fish, eggs, cheese, hummus or beans
- A dairy item, such as yoghurt or cheese
- Water or a healthy drink
More ideas can be found here.
To promote healthy lifestyles, we ask that packed lunches do not contain sweets, chocolate bars, fizzy drinks or energy drinks. We also encourage families to limit foods that are high in sugar, salt and fat.
By working together, we can help children develop positive eating habits that support their health, wellbeing and learning. If you would like advice on preparing healthy packed lunches, please contact the school office.
