VE Day (75 years), May 8th 2020

VE Day Commemoration (8th May):

With thanks to Mrs Lewis for the huge amount of work she has already put into this:

Ahead of recent Covid19 complications, plans were in place to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of the second world war on Friday 8th May 2020 (May Bank Holiday). Our school was no different. This is a day to celebrate and educate; to commemorate the official end of the Second World War.

(Victory in Europe Day, generally shortened to VE Day or V-E Day, celebrates the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War 2 of Nazi Germany's unconditional surrender of armed forces on 8th May 1945)

Before Coronavirus, plenty of plans across the whole of the UK were in place.

Official advice is for members of the public to temporarily cancel all previously planned events - for obvious reasons.

However, Mrs Lewis would still like us all to mark the recognition of this day through home learning etc.

She has researched a great deal of some resources and suggested website links and has asked that these are shared with you all for next week, via Seesaw, Tapestry etc, as well as the FB page.

We would encourage you to also please send us any photos of any events/activities you may participate in (which Mrs Lewis would like to collate and keep to make a portfolio of this event).

It may well be that your child's class teacher chooses to put these resources and links in each class's Weekly Home Learning sheets for next week. Equally, home learning may well suggest a "4 day week" next week, with the VE Bank Holiday falling on that Friday.
